For the Tacos:

  • Corn Tortillas
  • Pico De Gallo

Instructions

  1. Mix all the ingredients for the Blackened Seasoning together and sprinkle over the Flank Steak, rubbing it in to coat all sides
  2. Let steak rest at room temperature for 30 minutes prior to grilling
  3. While steak is resting make the Avocado Lime Sauce
  4. Add all ingredients for the Avocado Lime Sauce to a large food processor and blend until smooth and creamy, you may need to add more Avocado Oil depending on how creamy you like it
  5. Taste and add more Salt or Pepper if desired, set aside
  6. Heat grill to med/high heat or about 400F
  7. Grill Flank Steak over direct heat 5-7 minutes each side until internal temp is 135F for medium rare (see notes for other cooking temps)
  8. Remove and let rest for 5 minutes
  9. Heat Tortilla shells on the grill for 1-2 minutes each side until slightly crisp
  10. Slice the Flank Steak very thin, it will be more tender this way
  11. Make your tacos and top with Avocado Lime Sauce
  12. Enjoy!

Notes

If you have leftover Blackened Seasoning you can store it in an air tight container in the cupboard with your other spices.

If you don’t like your steak medium rare, just cook a little longer. See cooking temps below, also note it depends on the thickness of your steak to how many minutes to cook on each side. I find it helpful to use a good digital thermometer to test the doneness.

  • 120 – 130 degrees F = Rare
  • 130 – 140 degrees F = Medium Rare
  • 140 – 150 degrees F = Medium
  • 160 – 170 degrees F = Well Done
