Burger season is in full swing, I love it! I am always looking for new variations of burgers. Today I made these Lemon Dill Salmon Burgers that can be grilled outside or in, which is perfect in case your BBQ gets rained out! These are topped with an easy-peasy Lemon Dill Tartar sauce as well, which will create a taste explosion in your mouth!
Salmon Burgers are so simple to make. They always end up being my go-to for a quick weeknight meal.
Now I always make sure to buy the Premium Salmon that comes in a can. Don’t opt for the cheap stuff here. When you buy premium, you will get better quality and less bones.
I remember the first time I opened a can of Salmon. I was a little taken aback by the look of it, because it just doesn’t look pretty. If this is your first time, don’t be turned off by the look. Once you make the patties and grill them, you will be pleasantly surprised by how delicious these are!
One 7.5 oz can of Salmon will make two good sized burgers. If you need to make more than two, just adjust the recipe accordingly.
In a medium size bowl add in the Salmon (removing any bones), Garlic, GF Panko (you can use regular Panko if you don’t need to be gluten free), Egg, Pepper, fresh Dill Weed (if you don’t have fresh, dried can be used as well, same measurements), and Lemon Juice.
Mix everything together well and form into two burgers with your hands.
I’ve made this both on the grill outside as well as using a grill pan inside. Cook time will be the same for both, about 4 minutes on each side. (See notes if grilling outside)
Florida summers almost always bring afternoon pop-up showers, so sometimes my grilling can not be done outside. My grill pan totally saves the day! This grill pan still delivers a nice smoky flavor to the burgers as well.
I use a Cast-Iron Square Grill Pan which evenly distributes the heat. You can find these at almost any retailer that sells cookware, or you can order online through Amazon. I mean who doesn’t love shopping in their pjs?!
While the burgers are cooking, you can whip up the Lemon Dill Tartar sauce.
I started making my own sauces and dressings about a year ago. This way I can make enough sauce for my meal, and not worry about a half opened jar of store bought sauce that ends up sitting in my fridge until well over the expiration date. Does that ever happen to you? It’s so frustrating when I have to throw these half used bottles out, it feels like such a waste!
The tartar sauce consists of Mayo, Lemon Juice, Dill Weed, and Garlic. That’s it! You probably already have these ingredients in your fridge!
The amount listed for the tartar sauce is the perfect amount for two burgers. So again if you need to make more, just adjust accordingly to however many burgers you are making.

I LOVE seeing what you guys cook up. 🙂
Cheers!
