Easy to make Chia Seed Gel

You can mix dry Chia Seeds into smoothies and other recipes, however I have found they are much easier on the stomach to digest when in a Gel form.

When you mix it in a Gel form it will keep for up to 2 weeks in the fridge.

You can use Chia Seed Gel in many other recipes besides smoothies too.  You can use it as an egg replacement, 1 Tbs of Gel replaces 1 egg!

You can soak the Chia Seeds in other liquids as well. Such as Almond Milk, or fruit juice, then add it as a topping for a dessert!

Edit to above comment – “if they ‘aren’t’ mixed, not ‘are’.

I soaked my seeds overnight in a covered mason jar in the fridge and nothing changed, they didn’t gel. Do you have any idea what I did wrong? Are some chia seeds better than others?

I was told to use 6 tbsp. to 2 and 1/4 cup of almond milk. I think that was excessive right? I had to throw it all out. Something went south.

I’m not sure where you got that recipe, that is not mine. If you follow my recipe above you mix 1/4 cup Chia Seeds with 1 1/2 cups Water. Let it sit at least 5 minutes before using, however it’s best if you let it soak overnight in the fridge.

You need to whisk them. I add my ingredients in, and then whisk well to mix. Leave 2 – 3 mins, whisk again, then after another 5 or so mins, another whisk. If you are using a mason jar, place chia seeds and water (liquid) in and shake vigorously. Then do the same thing again following the above timings. If they are mixed, they generally don’t turn into a gel, they just stay in a hard blob. 🙁
