Here is a step by step on How To Make 5 Minute Garlic Aioli. This Garlic Aioli sauce takes only 5 minutes to make and is 100% better than any store bought sauce.
This sauce is perfect for any type of seafood, burgers, fries, or whatever else you can think of to dip in here!
I just recently made this sauce to put on a super yummy Salmon Burger. (Spoiler alert, look for that recipe coming soon!) 🙂
After I learned how easy it was to make my sauces and dressings at home, and realizing they taste way better than the ones I would buy in the store, I no longer buy any store bought sauces or dressings. Plus I no longer have tons of half used sauces sitting in the fridge getting all funkified.
There are just 3 main ingredients to this sauce, Mayo, Lemon Juice, and Garlic. That’s it! Seriously, you can’t get much easier than that!
I hope you love this Garlic Aioli as much as we do! It’s:
- Easy to make
- Flavorful
- Made with simple ingredients
- and Oh So Savory!

Really? You should call this garlic mayo or mayo with garlic, but it is confusing and misleading calling it aioli. First the correct word is allioli and the name says it all: in catalan all is garlic and oli is oil, olive oil in this case and that is all you need for the sauce, garlic and oil. No gluten no dairy. Ta daaaa!

Rude!
Maybe where you come from, this isn’t Aoli.
This recipe is wonderful no matter the name.
Thank you Tasteful Venture!

The definition of aioli is literally mayonnaise seasoned with garlic. Nice job being a jerk. I’ve also made this and it’s delicious.

Leah – You would be incorrect. As an Italian I am offended that you would think aioli would be mayonnaise. To even be considered part of the aioli family, it must contain olive oil. Real aioli does not have eggs, mayo’s main ingredient is eggs. So no, it is not “literally mayonnaise”. How can this recipe be better than store bought when using store bought mayo.

Nice! Exactly what I thought when I read Nuria’s comment. This looks simple and delicious! I’m making it right now in the kitchen to go with artichoke!

Perfect on my steak sandwhich! So easy and delicious! Super happy that I could just mix it up and eat it right away!
Sara
So glad you liked it Elaine!!
Jamie
Not a fan. Didn’t taste like the aioli To me, really. More of a mayo-based salad dressing- like a creamy italian dressing. Might be good on salads!
Arlene
Just made a batch. Absolutely delicious. I made a garlic aioli sauce to go with it. Yum!!
Sara
So glad you enjoyed it Arlene!

According to ErinNudi.com (https://www.erinnudi.com/2018/01/17/difference-between-mayonnaise-and-aioli/), there is no reason to be prudish here:
“Both mayonnaise and aioli are emulsions, meaning they contain two or more liquids that are typically unmixable. They’re also both made with egg yolks as the main emulsifying ingredient. And they’re both mayonnaise.”
“Aioli is a mayonnaise, but mayonnaise is not necessarily aioli.”
“Aioli must contain olive oil (some say extra virgin olive oil) and garlic. In fact, “aioli” means garlic and oil, making the term “garlic aioli” redundant.
Mayonnaise can use different types of oil – typically a neutral oil, like canola or soybean – it doesn’t have to be olive oil or EVOO.
So yes, aioli is a garlic-flavored mayonnaise. But, a few points with this:
1) Garlic-flavored mayonnaise can differ from aioli if it’s made from a different kind of oil.
2) Mayonnaise made with olive oil can differ from aioli if it doesn’t contain garlic.
3) Mayonnaise with any other flavor other than garlic is not aioli.”
